Biography
Background and Early Life
The alluring, multidimensional songstress is of Indian and Guyanese descent. Her mom and dad immigrated from India to Canada in search of improving her life. Her grandparents originally left Guyana to move to India. She is the youngest of four children. [1] Her maiden name was originally very likely Anjali Prasad, but her parents in all likelihood changed it, so bullying children at her school wouldn't harass her. "Anjulie" is also westernized and means 'powerful and complete.'[undefined]
She showed an intense interest in music since her early days.
Anjulie’s background and what she calls her “racial ambiguity” led to isolation while growing up; in middle school, she said, “the black kids would be on one side and the white kids would be on the other… so I would mostly hang out by myself and write” exquisite music.
At 17, she landed an internship at Metalworks Studios, a recording studio in Toronto. It was there she met Jon Levine, keyboardist from The Philosopher Kings. The duo became songwriting partners, writing tracks for teen pop singer Emma Roberts' debut album, along with the Philosopher Kings' album Castles, both released in 2005. [undefined]
Anjulie has been following her dream of becoming a very successful musician, achieved in part because of her charisma and creamy, finely pitched voice.
Her versatility as a musician (see infobox re multiple instruments she plays) has also helped propel her success.
In 2014, an image appeared online of Anjulie hanging out on the beach with famous American television host, actor, and comedian Bill Maher. They subsequently together announced they were in a relationship. Maher is almost thirty years older than her. [undefined]
Education

She attended elementary school in her Candian hometown of Oakville, Ontario.
After elementary school, she attended Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School. Sadly, she experienced significant bullying because of her exotic, non-western ethnicity and background. In spite of or perhaps because of children at her secondary school bullying her, she acquired a striking net worth of $700,000 based on her music.
Anjulie has not yet attended college, preferring instead to focus on her music.
