Origin
Animals Matter To Me (Mumbai) was established by Ganesh Nayak and Dheeraja Nayak on May 22, 2010.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, AMTM works for animal and bird rescues, medical aid, adoption, vaccination programs and awareness campaigns in the community.
The inspiration behind AMTM is Ganesh's mother who used to bring ill-treated animals to her home.
It left a deep impression on young Ganesh's mind.
He started feeding the stray animals and getting them medical treatments and neutered at his own expense.
After marrying Dheeraja, Ganesh found common passion for animal welfare with her and together they created Animals Matter To Me in 2010.

The aim of this organization is to save animals from disease and starvation and give them a chance for a better life.
The organization works to achieve this goal by feeding the animals, providing them medical care and finding home for the abandoned animals.

Animals Matter To Me provides support to various organizations and individuals in emergency cases such as accidents and other abandonment cases.
They also assist in other animal welfare services for domestic and wildlife animals along with various cases of transportation of animals, legal aspects and awareness among the community and animal birth control.
They have a well-organized network of veterinarians around Thane and Mumbai who give consultation on all the cases. The local volunteers and foster homes also provide assistance from time to time. [undefined]
Dheeraja is a qualified commercial Pilot and Ganesh is B.Com and event-management Graduate who owns a corporate Gifting enterprise.
Ganesh was awarded The Pawsitive People's Awards for "The Dedicated NGO" category by Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan. [undefined]

Rescue
Animals Matter To Me rescues injured animals from the streets of Mumbai.
The medical treatment is offered by the physicians and surgeons around the Mumbai and the volunteers students who are part of the organization.
Feeding

AMTM have more than 150 cats and 700 dogs at the shelter.
At the IDA Animal Birth Control and Health Care Center near Bainganwadi Deonar, every Saturday animal lovers and volunteers take part in a feeding program by feeding the animals and spending a quality time with them.
Adoptions
AMTM works for the adoption of the abandoned animals of various breeds, such as German Shepherds, Labradors and many others that get abandoned by their previous owners.
The abandoned pets are not used to living a hard life on the streets and need caring and a place to stay.
Sterilizations, vaccinations and Pet Licensing
AMTM assists in the sterilization and vaccination process of animals along with acquisition of BMC Licenses of dogs.
Shelter
The shelter of Animal Matters To Me is built over 18,000-foot property that houses and nurtures about 150 dogs.
Future Aspiration

In future, organization hopes to have a two-acre state of the rehab facility with full fledge clinic running 24/7, so more voiceless animals can be treated and fostered while recovering from their injuries or illnesses.
Trivia
On September 2016, a twelve-year old girl chose to celebrate her birthday in a unique way by feeding 1200 stray dogs.
Instead of choosing her birthday with her friends, she wanted to spend the same money on feeding the stray dogs of Mumbai.
Her parents contacted Animals Matter To Me to identify and put together a spectacular feast for the homeless dogs around Marve and Aqsa area.
AMTM created an event on their Facebook page where they have more than two hundred thousand followers, out of which 800 confirmations came and 263 volunteers showed up to help.
A nutritious porridge was prepared and till the end of the day 1240 dogs were fed and pampered.
This event happened during the Ganpati festival which is very popular in Mumbai and earned quite a limelight for it.
