Angela Chao

Angela Chao is Deputy Chairman of Foremost Group, an international shipping and transportation company located in New York founded by her father, James S.C. Chao, an American merchant mariner. She lives in NYC with her husband, famed Venture Capitalist Jim Breyer.

Angela also serves as President of The Foremost Foundation, a philanthropic organization.

She graduate from Harvard University (1994) and majored in Economics. She finished school in 3 years. After graduating, she worked for Smith-Barney (now Citigroup) before starting Harvard Business School and graduating in 2001.

Angela Chao is the youngest of six daughters born to immigrant Chinese parents.

She speaks Mandarin Chinese and English.

Her sister Elaine Chao was the U.S. Secretary of Labor during George W. Bush.

Angela is a frequent speaker on the subject of technology in the classroom.

Her board memberships include Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s International Maritime Business Department Advisory Board, Harvard Business School's Board of Dean's Advisors, The Met Opera and Chairman's Council of the Met Museum of Art, MoMA PS1, the Shanghai Mulan Education Foundation, the American Bureau of Shipping Council, Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy Board of Advisors, Honorary Chairperson of the Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America, and the Lincoln Center Global China Advisory Council.
