Amy Birnkrant was a runner from Santa Clarita, California. ^[1]

Birnkrant operated a day care center called "Amy's Corner" out of her home a couple of days a week.

She was previously a preschool teacher.

Birnkrant began running in 1999.

That fall she ran her very first marathon.

Over the following two years she ran 3 more full marathons and climbed to the summit of Mt. Whitney. ^[1]

She took a 13 year break from running and came back in 2014 after which she ran 1 full marathon, 5 half marathons and 2 mud runs.

She was married to Michael Joseph Birnkrant. Her daughter, Drew Birnkrant, was a Pole vaulter for the College's track and field team at College of the Canyons, a two-year community college.

Authorities stated the incident appeared to be a murder-suicide, where her husband, Michael Joseph Birnkrant, shot and killed all three individuals then turned the gun on himself.
