Amplo is raising $100 million for seed and follow-on deals.  In October 2017, it took part in a $40 million funding round of the African education startup Andela alongside Google Ventures and Spark Capital . 
Amplo draws high leverage individuals to help its portfolio. "Elders" are made up of experienced political and business leaders who serve as board members while "millennials" are successful contemporary entrepreneurs.  Elders include Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee , Distingiushed Fellow at Johns Hopkins University Alec Ross, and former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard .  In addition, two millennials who are a part of Amplo include Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and Robinhood cofounder Vlad Tenev .
