Amit Agarwal is the Sr. Vice President and Country Manager of Amazon India, the Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. He is a native of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Before his current position, he was the Vice President of International Expansion in Amazon. He is an alumni of Stanford University.^[1]

Amit Agarwal started his career software developer in 1999 and continued to work in the profession for about five years. Early in his career, he joined Cambridge Technology Partners in Silicon Valley where he worked for a few months. After that he joined Informatica.

In 2004, he joined Amazon as the Managing Director of Amazon.com Development Center in Bangalore, India.

He was later promoted to Shadow and Technical advisor to CEO at Amazon.com. In September 2009, he became the VP International Expansion. He was again promoted to Sr. Vice President and Country Manager at Amazon India on 2013.

He was born in Mumbai, India. He completed his bachelor degree in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He then went to Stanford University to study masters in computer science.^[1]

Besides work, he loves to play electric guitar and play music.

He acted as the vocalist in a rock band named Algo-Rhythms during his post-grad days at Stanford. He is a fan of Kishore Kumar and Jerry Seinfeld. He likes to imitate Amitabh Bachchan at parties.^[11]

Amit has an active Twitter handle. His Twitter account username is "AmitAgarwal". When he joined Amazon, it was only selling books online. However, he wanted amazon to expand its operations. He quickly become part of Amazon's senior leadership team.^[11] He is featured on several YouTube interviews.^[2][3][4][5]
