Amiko Kauderer

Amiko Kauderer is a blogger and former NASA Public Affairs Officer. She is the wife of Astronaut Scott Kelly. [5] [4]

Early Life & Education

Amiko Kauderer hails from China Spring, Texas. She attended the University of Houston- Clear Lake where she received her Bachelor's degree in communication and her Master's degree in digital media studies.[3]

Career

Currently, Amiko is a blogger.

She has a website and an Instagram page, where she writes her thoughts and posts travelling photos.[23] In addition, she is an advisor at CiviliNation, a non-profit organization taking a stand against online harassment, character assassination and violence.[21]

Previously, she was a Public Affairs Officer for NASA. Kauderer encouraged the adoption of social media that brought the world its first tweet from space. She taught NASA astronauts how to explore and engage with a public that spans the globe through social media.[4]

She managed a kaleidoscope of social media accounts at NASA Johnson Space Center, including the NASA Johnson Twitter and Facebook and NASA Astronauts Twitter and space blogs. [3]

Kauderer also served as a spokesperson for the agency and commentator on NASA Television, providing commentary from inside Mission Control during International Space Station mission.

Personal Life

Scott Kelly and Amiko were nine years together before tying the knot. They married on July 13, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Couple spent a year apart when Kelly embarked on a record-breaking mission to the International Space Station from March 2015 to March 2016. They were able to speak over the phone and video chat once a week.[22]
