Amber Scholl

Amber Scholl

Amber Scholl (born August 13, 1993) is a YouTube Star. She is a DIY guru and fashion influencer popular for her "Broke Girl Hacks" series on her Xo Amber YouTube channel. She also covers celebrity fashion and home décor to more than 3.2 million subscribers.

Early life

Amber Brittany Scholl was born in West Los Angeles, California. Her parents have been happily married for nearly three decades now. She is the eldest of three daughters and has two sisters named Alyssa and Angela. She has Russian, German, Irish and Polish ancestry.

Education

She attended Desert Mountain High School from 2007 to 2011, and was a cheerleader in school. She then enrolled into Pepperdine University and completed her graduation with a major in Broadcast Journalism in May 2015.

Rise to stardom

After completing her graduation, Amber Scholl found it hard to get jobs in the very competitive Los Angeles area.

She did a number of odd jobs during this time, including a brief stint in acting, but still was unable to earn enough to support herself.

For a while, she ran the Snapchat account for a women's blog titled 'All Women Talk', based in New York City. She applied for corporate jobs even though she didn't have much interest in those, and was not lucky enough to get hired either. The only mentionable job she did during this time was to drive for Postmates, but she lost that job as well after she crashed her car on July 4th, 2016.

She was literally broke at this point, and as a last-ditch effort, began posting random videos on her YouTube channel, which had earned about 10k subscribers already. Somehow, one of her videos from this time titled 'DIY MARBLE FLOORING', ended up on YouTube homepage and her channel instantly got noticed.

A lot of people started going back and watch her other videos on budget friendly hacks, which till then had only a handful of views.

She reached 100k subscribers on YouTube within a couple days, and also got a host of new followers on her Instagram and Twitter. Realizing the growth potential of her channel, she decided to quit her other "half-jobs" to concentrate fulltime on YouTube.

She has the ability to come up with creative and exciting solutions to everyday problems under a tight budget.

While she loved to watch YouTube videos prior to beginning her own journey as a YouTuber, she could hardly afford any of the items shown by most popular YouTubers of the time, which prompted her to share her ideas with the niche audience who were broke like her.

She was always a crafty kid, and so DIY videos came naturally to her.

Trivia

She is also widely known on her amberscholl Instagram account, which boasts to over 850,000 followers.

She has been represented by Marienor Madrilejo at Abrams Artists Agency.
