^[2]While on a humanitarian trip in Cape Town, South Africa, Amber was allegedly raped when she agreed to take a shower with a man, but not to have sex with him.

Amber posted an account of her rape, as well as hospital and police encounters following it to Instagram immediately after it happened, getting both a lot of support from the progressive community and a heavy backlash from critics.
