Alvaro Medrano is a resident of Edinburg, Texas. ^[1]

He is the partner of Olga Espinosa.

On Tuesday August 8, 2017 at approximately 6:48 p.m., Edinburg Sheriff Deputies responded to the area north of FM 2812 on Sunflower Road in rural Edinburg, Texas in reference to a 911 caller reporting that he had shot his wife. ^[1]

Responding Sheriff’s Deputies were informed from citizens calling 911 of the physical description of a male subject walking away from the location.

Deputies located the male caller, identified as 47 year old Alvaro Medrano, and detained him without incident near FM 493 and FM 2812.

Sheriff’s Deputies proceeded to the Medrano’s residence located on Sunflower Road, and discovered the lifeless bodies of two females inside of a vehicle, with gunshot wounds to the head.

The females were identified as Medrano’s wife, 30 year old Olga Espinosa, and his mother-in-law, 52 year old Irene Espinosa.

Medrano had streamed his confession to their murders on Facebook Live, while walking away from the crime scene. ^[1]

On August 9, 2017, Medrano was arraigned on a charge of capital murder. He was given a $2,000,000 cash surety bond and committed to the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center. ^[1]
