Allison Michaels graduated from University of Michigan in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in communications. She went on to attend University of Maryland College Park in 2013 with a Master's degree in multi-platform journalism. ^[1]

Prior to joining The Washington Post in August 2014, she was an editor at U.S. News & World Report. She was also an editorial assistant at American Journalism Review and editorial intern at the Washington City Paper. ^[1]

She married David Michaels in 2013.
