Alina Lozano
Life and career
Lozano studied at the National School of Dramatic Art and the Permanent Workshop of Theatre Research. Her parents described her as a cowardly, shy, lonely and rather social person during her teenage years. And now, they describe her as someone calm, confident, with the necessary control to assume her fears and with a great need to learn day by day.
Her great teacher in acting was Alvaro Rodriguez, a man Lozano describes as "extremely intelligent and sensible".
For six years, and after retiring from the university where she studied hotel management because she definitely felt "out of place", she was part of his group, El Callejón del Gato. However, once again she tried to study a professional career, this time Law, but she did not succeed, and she let her mother know that she wants to become an actress. Her mother supported her unconditionally:
She told me that if I didn't like those races (sic), there was no point in me staying there.
She worried about my financial future, but she was supportive because for six years my income was very bad, and she was the one who supported me and trusted me all the time.
From then on, she dedicated herself completely to acting and with Álvaro she performed the monologue Bodas de perla, which became the stepping stone to enter television, thanks to Dago García who saw it and bought it to broadcast it on the midnight show Guests. Then she got called up to work on Romeo y Buseta.
Then she had a slump, because she had been out of work for almost a year, and she felt like dying, because she didn't know what to do and she wondered if that happened to all the actors.
In her words, she had no choice but to fill herself with strength and understand that part of her work also contained uncertainty and instability:
I understood that today one can be in a very successful telenovela and tomorrow not know what will happen; that today one has a job and tomorrow, who knows.
But that's the charm, because now I don't know if I'd be fascinated by being incredibly stable.[2]
