Early Life
Gatie was born to Iraqi parents and raised in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga. [17]
Career
At age 20, Ali started posting tracks online.
Gatie later broke through in 2017 after winning the RhymeStars song contest sponsored by online digital production marketplace BeatStars.
A year later, he gained viral attention with his yearning single Moonlight. In May 2019, Ali released Moonlight music video.[5]
On July 18, 2019, Ali released It's You official music video. The video shows Gatie driving a blue convertible by himself down the lonely desert road with nobody else in sight as the song's lyrics scroll on his windshield. It gained 15 million views in 3 months. [19] In October 2019, he released Say to You official music video with lyrics. In amassed more than 1 million views in a week.[18]
In an interview with Billboard he said "I want to be like the perfect mixture of Ed Sheeran and J. Cole, somewhere right in the middle, where I'm not a pop star, but I'm not exactly a hip-hop artist." [19]
