Ali David Sonboly was the shooter in the 2016 Munich Shopping Center Shooting. Sonboly came from Iranian and German decent and was influenced by Norwegian mass murderer, Anders Behring Breivik. [undefined] He was half Iranian and half German through his immediate parents.
Munich Shooting
In July 2016 Sonboly attacked a shopping center in Munich, Germany killing 9 others, injuring dozens, and eventually died at the scene. During the attack witnesses said Sonboly was heard shouting "I am German!" and "Allahu Akbar!"[undefined] Despite ISIS supporters celebrating the attack online, it is unclear if Sonboly had any ties to the organization, but influence from Anders Breivik was been documented. [1] [undefined] [undefined] Many of his profile pictures on WhatsApp were of the Norwegian white supremacist mass shooter Anders Brevik. [undefined] Ali bought the gun illegally online. He planned the attack for a year. Sonboly was partly motivated by anti-Turk sentiments. [undefined]
Sonboly stated he was bullied and has previously been treated for psychiatric issues.
A list of victims has not been released but Zabergja Dijamant, Armelea Segashi and Sabina Sulaj have been stated as casualties.
On July 23rd, 2016 the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran denounced the attack and expressed solidarity with the German people.
