On Saturday, March 31, 2018, Spartz was in the passenger seat of a Lincoln LS on the Interstate 495. The driver lost control of the vehicle in Haverhill, Massachusetts, causing it to roll over. ^[undefined]

Spartz and her passenger became stuck and were extricated from the vehicle by two off-duty Haverhill firefighters who were driving by at the time of the crash.

Both were transported to Lawrence General Hospital, but Spartz eventually succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
