Alexandre Bissonnette is a French-Canadian student at Laval University who is suspected of being the lone gunman who committed the Quebec City Mosque Shooting on January 29, 2017.
Mosque Shooting
On January 29, 2017, Bissonnette was arrested after allegedly shooting six men at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center during evening prayers.
Mohamed Khadir a Moroccan-Canadian, was also taken into custody but is now considered to be a witness. Six men aged between 39 and 60 died, five are critically injured and dozens more were caught up in killings.
It came a day after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned Donald Trump's immigration ban.
Bissonnette fled in his Mitsubishi and was arrested in nearby Île d' Orléans around 20 minutes after the mass shooting, calling 911 to turn himself in.
Police found two rifles and an AK-4 in his car.
Motive
Personal Life
On his personal Facebook account, he is a fan of Donald Trump. Alexandre had no prior criminal history before his arrest. He is a native of Quebec.
Alexandre would post about far right political posts on social media. Classmates describe Alexandre as having pro Israel and anti-Immigration beliefs. [1]
Charges
Alexandre faces six counts of first degree murder.
