On the early morning of June 27 th, 2018 at around 8 am, Dephree, wearing only his underwear, climbed atop a freeway sign and began to unfurl several painted banners focused on the topic of pollution.
Once he had hung them for motorists to see, he began to rap on a bullhorn.
When he wasn't dancing or shouting into the bullhorn, he intermittently took hits from his vape pen. Authorities eventually had to stop traffic, leading to a traffic jam lasting nearly two hours.
Among the banners Dunn hung from the sign, one read “Fight pollution, not each other,” and another said “Give a hoot, don’t pollute.”
Dunn was eventually apprehended by the authorities.
As police officers closed on his position, he sprung into a backflip from the freeway sign into a secure rescue inflatable that had been set up by the fire department.
When he climbed down from the inflatable and to the ground, he was arrested and taken into custody.
A judge will decide whether Dephree is liable for the expenses incurred by the California transportation services for his disruption, and whether the incident was carried out for commercial use, which carries stiffer penalties.
