Alexander Bonds was a drifter with a history of crime who assassinated NYPD officer, Miosotis Familia, on July 5, 2017 in the Bronx, New York. [2] [6]

Criminal History

Bonds had been on parole for a 2013 robbery in Syracuse, New York. [6]

Death

On July 5, 2017, Bonds approached a New York City Police Department officer at 12:30 a.m., as she sat inside a temporary headquarters vehicle at East 183rd Street and Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights and shot her in the head. [2] [6]

As officers confronted him, he drew a revolver. [6]The officers fired at him, striking and killing him. [2] [6]

The officer shot was rushed by her fellow officers to Saint Barnabas Medical Center, when she died from her wounds. [2] [6]

An innocent bystander was also shot in the stomach.
