Alex Stamos is the Chief Security Officer of Facebook.
Education
Stamos holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Career
Stamos was formerly Yahoo's chief information security officer and vice president of information security. He led all aspects of information security at the company, including the team of Yahoo "Paranoids," who are charged with making Yahoo's products as secure as possible.
Stamos is also responsible for implementing top-to-bottom security for products and systems, as well as leading the company and the industry in how security works today and how it needs to work in the future.
He has spent his career building and improving secure, trustworthy systems and is a well-known expert on Internet infrastructure, cloud computing and mobile security.
Before joining Facebook, he served as the chief technology officer of Artemis (software) and co-founded iSEC Partners. Stamos has been a keynote speaker at FS-ISAC, was a key organizer of TrustyCon and is frequently requested to present at conferences such as BlackHat, DEF CON, Microsoft Blue Hat and Infragard.
