Alex Frantz Ghassan (born October 7, 1981) was a Haitian-American director, producer, and film maker who died in the 2016 Oakland warehouse fire on December 2, 2016. [1]
Early Life
Alex lived in Brooklyn and grew up in New Jersey. He attended The Art Institute of New York City. Alex moved to Oakland, California in 2014 to pursue an artistic opportunity that paid him enough to support his 4-year-old twin daughters.
Career
Throughout his career, Alex worked independently, collaborating with artists such as Spike Lee, Talib Kweli, Skyzoo, & Dwyane Wade. His work has reached platforms like FUSE TV, MTV, Noisey, Xxl, BET, Complex, 2DopeBoyz, Vibe, & HipHopDX.
Death
On December 2, 2016, was one of 36 people who died during the 2016 Oakland warehouse fire when fire spread through an artists’ warehouse that was hosting a party.
Family and friends started a YouCaring to help support his 4-year-old-twin daughters.
