Alex Erasmus is Chief Legal Officer of Block.one and is based in Hong Kong.

^[1]He was previously a Partner at the law firm of Clifford Chance in London, England, where he worked primarily on Mergers and Acquisitions.

Erasmus qualified to practice law in South Africa in 1998 before joining Clifford Chance in 2001.

^[1]He was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales 2007, and made Partner at Clifford Chance that same year.

^[0]Erasmus is a specialist in global corporate finance, including corporate governance, public and private M&A, restructuring, regulatory and commercial work.

^[1] During his tenure at Clifford Chance, he led the financial institutions group and acts for several of the world’s leading banks, insurers and asset managers.

Some of his experience includes working with Deutsche Bank on the sale of its UK asset management business to Permira/Bestinvest and its London asset management business to Rathbones, Standard Bank on the sale of its global markets business to ICBC, and HSBC on the disposal of its general insurance businesses in Asia, MENA, Turkey, France and Latin America to, and its exclusive bancassurance arrangements with, Axa, QBE, Allianz and AIG.
