Alex de Armas is an award-winning journalist who joined WSVN in March 2015 as a morning reporter, and she was transitioned into Florida co-anchor in September 2016.[1]
Biography
Alex de Armas was born and brought up in Miami, United States. She is a bilingual morning anchor for WSVN in Miami, Florida.
Her goal is to be a voice to and for her community.
Alex de Armas is known for her ability to relate to most people she encounters and share their stories with heart and life-impacting facts.
Alex de Armas has a warm place in her heart for children and strives to motivate and inspire others.
Education
Alex de Armas had her high school education at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. Alex de Armas earned an Associate of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication at Miami Dade College from 2009 to 2011. She also graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism from 2011 to 2013.[21]
Career
Alex de Armas started her career as an intern at CBS News Miami, from May 2011 to August 2011.
At CBS News, she worked closely with reporters on producing day to day stories by interviewed sources and produced stories from interviews.
After Alex de Armas left CBS News, she joined WCJB-TV in January 2012 as an associate producer and fill-in reporter. Her duty was to edit videos using Final Cut Pro for the 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. newscast, shoot videos, and to render assistance in any other tasks needed to be done in the newsroom. In August 2012, she transitioned into a part-time reporter, she was responsible for reporting news in North Central Florida for the evening newscast, editing videos using Final Cut Pro, shooting videos, writing packages and uploading content to the web. She left WCJB TV 20 in May 2013.[22]
Between July 2013 to March 2015, she worked as a reporter at WBBH-TV, where she reported the news in Southwest Florida, Edited videos using Edius and Shot videos.[22]
Alex de Armas was also a reporter and host for Comcast Newsmakers, a community news program that airs on CNN’s Headline News in Florida.
She was also a host for Own The Vote, a Comcast series on educating young voters about the 2012 presidential election and politics.
