On Saturday June 16, 2018, Gardner was shot and killed in a shooting that occurred at Untouchables Motorcycle Club.

By 6:00 a.m. Saturday, police had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Deontae N. Bright, 18, of Danville.

Bond on the warrant was set at $5 million.
