Alana Yu-lan Price is an American journalist known for her work with Truthout and for being the former Managing editor of Tikkun magazine. She is a relentless writer and editor who believes in full objectivity in reporting news in the media that does a fair job in covering different forms of oppression. Many of the topics she has covered include Police brutality in the U.S., economic inequality, and the challenges of Capitalism for people of color.
Biography
Education
After high school, Price moved to Pennsylvania to attend private college, Swarthmore College. She received her Bachelor's degree with high honors in English in 2004. She was in Phi Beta Kappa.
She was also a Women's studies minor and also focused on Postcolonial. For her study abroad, she attended University of Havana where she conducted an independent research project concerning women's participation in the urban agriculture movement in Havana. She also sang with the Coro Nacional de Cuba.

A few years after graduating from Swarthmore, she attended Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Chicago, Illinois. She received her Master of Science degree in Journalism in 2006. She was a part of Kappa Tau Alpha.
Career
Journalism
Since her time in college, Price worked as a freelance reporter and editorial assistant for The Madison Times.
She was also a research associate and staff writer for Council on Hemispheric Affairs.
After college, she was the Washington Correspondent at Waterloo Courier. After, she was the copy editor for Inter Press Service/Global Information Network.
Tikkun magazine

For six years, she was the assistant editor, an later the Managing editor, at Tikkun magazine, an interfaith magazine that covers progressive politics and spirituality. She developed themed issues on topics such as disability justice, queer spirituality, and debt abolition.
She also served as creative director, brainstormed art concepts, and commissioned illustrations.
She edited and managed Tikkun.org and the Tikkun Daily blog.
She also managed a nationwide team of editorial volunteers and contributors.
Truthout
At Truthout, Alana continues her work in progressive politics as the content relations editor. As one of the people who are in charge of the publication's editing, she strongly believes that good journalism plays a role in the pursuit of justice.
She covers the many different forms of injustice that is oppressing people around the world.
Some of these topics include: mass incarceration, white supremacy, widening economic inequality, and a militarized form of global capitalism that disproportionately affects people of color and women worldwide.
She battles the silence and erasure by corporate media and other outlets by providing precise objectivity in the injustices that occur each day around the world and in the United Sates.
