Akyra Monet Murray was a student and star athlete at West Catholic Preparatory High School.
Murray graduated third in her class from West Catholic in June 2016. She had signed a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball on a full athletic scholarship at Mercyhurst University. [1]

Murray was one of the 49 victims in the Pulse Orlando Shooting (2016). [1] Murray was on vacation in Florida at the time.
