Ajoche is a Nigerian Television program produced by James Omokwe and directed by Femi Ogunsanwo. It is the story of the people of Ocholuje and how they deal with war,Love, betrayal and revenge. According to the producer, the story is designed to capture the viewer’s imagination of love and the daily evil of Human life.**** [1]
Background
The Idoma people of Middle Belt Nigeria, Benue State precisely have for a long time been denied of their Origin by the media and have been neglected by Mainstream Nollywood, focusing only on the three major tribes (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa), but there are so many Ethnic group in Nigeria whose stories have not been told, and it was on this premise that the Africa Magic company decided to put together a TV series focusing on the culture of the Idoma people in order to bring fresh content to the big screen and also showcase the culture and tradions of minority Tribe s, hence the production of Ajoche (which means ‘Kingdom’). [2][3]
The decision by the makers of the TV series to end it with the first Season is totally to leave viewers in a state of Awe as said by the producer, to ‘leave when the Ovation is the loudest’. [4]
Plot
It happens in the year 1918 that an innocent pregnant woman and queen of Ocholuje was brutally murdered by the bloodthirsty Soldier s of Aboh, King Odaleko (Femi Branch) goes on a murderous Invasion of Aboh, vowing to spare no one in Retaliation for the death of his beloved wife. The events that follow can only be imagined. A young woman bent on avenging the death of her family members in the Senseless violence and will do anything to get Revenge; a general who hungers for power he is not destined for; a Mother who is determined to see that no harm comes to her son; a Fugitive who has to literally fight for his survival against a well-known enemy, a woman who has to endure the attentions of a man she does not love and a village that has to uncover some bitter truths and embrace it’s Destiny.
