Aidan Zellmer
Aidan Zellmer is an American student who attended Horizon High School in Thornton, Colorado. On March 11, 2019, Zellmer was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He pleaded guilty to the murder of Kiaya Campbell in 2017.

He is a fan of Deadpool. Zellmer is the twin brother of Ethan Zellmer. Zellmer attended Vikan Middle School.
At Horizon High School, he was in the ninth grade. His father, Demmie Joseph Olvera is a religious man.
Death of Kiaya Campbell
Where Kiaya Campbell's body was found
On June 10, 2017, Zellmer was arrested in connection to the death of Kiaya Campbell. At about 11:38 p.m. local time, Thornton Police Detectives arrested him for investigation of first degree murder. [1] He was booked and transported to the Adams County Juvenile Detention facility. [1]
Campbell's body was found in a grassy area near East 128th Avenue and Jasmine Street, about one mile from her father's home in Thornton, Colorado on the evening of June 8, 2017. [1]
She was reported missing the night before by her sister.
Zellmer stated that he and Campbell got separated when a rainstorm moved in.
Investigation
Investigators are trying to determine if she had been sexually assaulted. Her body also had signs of severe trauma.
Zellmer was identified as the son of Kiaya's father's girlfriend.
The Department of Human Services is currently conducting a Child Fatality Review for Kiaya Campbell.
Legal proceedings
On June 12, 2017, Zellmer and his parents appeared for a detention hearing in juvenile court at about 1:30 p.m. local time. His father, Demmie Joseph Olvera, was wearing a crucifix on a chain around his neck. He waved it in front the news media and said "Jesus" before entering court. He later read from a Bible while waiting for Aidan to appear for the detention hearing. Aidan is currently being held in the Adams County Juvenile Detention Facility.
He is in ineligible for bond, due to the case being of murder. On June 14, 2017, Zellmer was formally charged with intent to kill after deliberation and first degree murder of a child under the age of 12 by someone in a position of trust. Prosecutors will seek to prosecute him as an adult. A hearing on June 30, 2017, will determine whether Zellmer will be released on bond and whether he will be tried in adult court. A preliminary hearing is also scheduled on the same day.
On Friday, February 1, 2019, Zellmer pleaded guilty to killing 10-year-old Kiaya Campbell in June 2017.
Sentencing
On March 11, 2019, Zellmer was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 30 to 40 years.
