Agafia Lykova
Agafia Lykova is A 70-year-old Russian hermit who has spent her entire life in the Siberian wilderness.
Lykova is a member of the Old Believers – a Russian Orthodox sect that broke away from the main church 350 years ago.
In 1936 -- in order to flee Stalin’s religious persecution-- Lykova's father relocated the family into the secluded Siberian wilderness, staying away from all of society.
The Family was so secluded that they did not know about the second world war until geologists stumbled upon them in 1978.
Lykova has lived alone since her father died in 1988.
In 2015, a British director began filming a documentary about Lykova called "The Forest in Me".
On January 15th, 2016, it was reported that Lykova contacted the mainland for medical help via an emergency satelite phone, she reportedly had leg pain.
Lykova has been evacuated and is currently resting in the hospital.
According to her Doctors, they have removed the acute pain in her legs and plan to keep her in hospital over the next week.
