Early Life & Education
Adrienne Elrod is originally from Siloam Springs, Arkansas and attended Siloam Springs High School. She was inspired to work in politics by Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton who were both family friends. Elrod's mother and Hillary Clinton met while both practicing law in Arkansas during a time where there were few female attorneys. Her father and Bill Clinton are long time friends who first met in Boys State. [5] [2] [7]
In 1998, Adrienne Elrod graduated from the Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.[48]
Career
Adrienne Elrod is the President of Elrod Strategies, a communications firm focusing on strategic communications and influencer engagement for corporate and non-profit clientele, as well as progressive organizations involved in the Protests against Donald Trump. She is also a political commentator who has appears regularly on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox Business, and as a panelist on Fox News Sunday. [3]
Elrod previously served as Hillary for America’s Director of Strategic Communications and Surrogates. Elrod oversaw the Clinton Campaign’s surrogate operations, deploying elected officials, civic leaders, celebrities, and other key influencers across the nation and on television, radio, and a range of digital platforms. Previously, Elrod served as a Vice President and Communications Director for American Bridge and Correct the Record, a joint communications and research organization created to defend Hillary Clinton from false and misleading attacks. Prior to this, Elrod served as Chief of Staff to California Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, managing legislative and communications agendas for a senior member of the House Committee on Armed Services and the House Committee on Homeland Security. Elrod held a variety of positions on the 2008 Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign, including Regional Press Secretary, Texas Communications Director, and Deputy Director of the Congressional Delegate Selection office. [3]
Adrienne started her career as a political appointee to President Bill Clinton's Administration, serving as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs, and later as a Special Assistant at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she worked under the leadership of Secretary Andrew Cuomo to develop and expand the Communities for Safer Guns Coalition. At the end of the Administration, Elrod moved back to Arkansas, joining the Arkansas Democratic Party as its communications director during an active election cycle which resulted in the election of Senator Mark Pryor. [4] After a brief stint at a political consulting firm in Little Rock, Arkansas, Elrod moved back to Washington D.C. to serve as Rep. Mike Ross’s (AR) communications director. During the 2004 election cycle she took a leave of absence to manage the campaign of Rep. Nick Lampson (TX). In March of 2005 she joined the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as the regional press secretary, working with candidates across the country under the leadership of Chairman Rahm Emanuel, ultimately resulting in a Democratic takeover of the House in 2007. She joined freshman Rep. Ron Klein’s (FL) team in 2008 as his Deputy Chief of Staff, helping him devise his policy agenda, resulting in legislative successes that earned him the title of “Rookie of the Year” by Politico. [4]
