Abbiegail Smith, who was known as Abbie, was an 11 year old from Keansburg. ^[1]

Born in the state of New Jersey, she was raised throughout Monmouth County and had lived with her mother. ^[undefined]

On the evening of July 12th, 2017, she was reported missing after her mother could not find her inside of their apartment.

She was last seen around 7:45 p.m.

She simply vanished.

In the morning of July 13th, 2017, prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni launched a Social media campaign to help find Abbie. Moments later around 10:45 a.m. police officers found Abbie's body within the vicinity of the Hancock apartments where she lived. ^[undefined]

A chopper caught sight of the numerous law enforcement officers who were at the scene.

The officers carried black tarps around the crime scene, and other officers setting up a small tent to conduct their investigation.
