Finding
On May 17, 2017 Aaliyah was found safe after identifying herself to a stranger in the afternoon in the area of Riverside Park and Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Her family has been notified, and Kazimer was being interviewed by police and checked out by medical personnel.
She showed up on St. Cloud's east side at the base of efforts to find her after she was reported missing Sunday to St. Cloud police.
"I cried ugly tears of joy," said her cousin Melissa Goldsmith, who had been searching the area when Kazimer returned.
"It was as surreal as when she went missing."
"Elated" and "ecstatic" were words she used to describe her emotions upon learning the Kazimer was found alive.
The questions of where she was and what happened to her can wait for another day, she said.
"All of that is going to come out in the wash," Goldsmith said.
"Now I'm just relieved for her family and for everyone that's been working to find her.
The intense emotions, I just can't even begin to describe."
Volunteers had donned waders and searched the shoreline of the Mississippi River south of the park.
People used kayaks and small boats to search the shores of nearby islands.
The search had focused on the river and the park since a bloodhound tracked scent from Kazimer's abandoned vehicle to the banks of the river.

On May 17, 2017 Melissa 'Maas' Goldsmith started a GoFundMe page to raise money to help find Aaliyah.
The group is looking for searchers with flat boats, kayaks (with water safe individuals to operate them) to search in the Missippi river. Volunteers should wear bright colored weather appropriate clothing with closed toe footwear suited for outdoors. Open toe shoes will not be permitted to do ground searching for safety reasons. Volunteers must be 18+ to ground search. All other volunteers will be asked to help with flyer donations and (or) distribution of flyers. Volunteers unable to help with ground searching, can still help with search efforts, by dropping off water or non-perishable foods and snacks for the searchers.
Searching will resume Wednesday Morning at 9am.
Volunteers bringing a watercraft to search the river should report to Fire house #5 on clearwater rd.
Those involved in the ground search, or dropping off donations, should meet at the command post set up on the North End of Liberty Glen Loop (approximately 2299 Liberty Glen Loop).
Volunteers should park along the river side of the street only, to allow traffic to move, and carpool as much as possible.
A white tent will be set up, for volunteers to sign in and receive their search assignments.
