It is owned by the Al-Futtaim Group and sells watches primarily in the Middle East.

History

In 1985, [1] Westar was officially launched.

It distributed products to subsidiaries of Al-Futtaim Group in UAE, Oman and Qatar. In 1987, Westar expanded its operation to markets including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria and Lebanon. In 1990, Westar made its presence known in the Far East and Commonwealth of Independent States countries. Russia [2] became one of its strongest distributors.

In 2003, the tagline for Westar was changed to “Wrist Fashion”.

To date, Westar products are distributed across more than 45 countries worldwide.

In 2012 [3] Westar opened a wholly owned subsidiary in Chennai, India.

Westar watches chose William Tell’s crossbow as its logo.

Collections

Westar has 9 distinct collections, each targeted at different consumer segments and price points: Zing; Activ; Profile; Ornate; Executive; Automatic; Digital; Kidz [sic]; Ceramic

  • Westar Zing models are ladies fashion watches. The collection consists of a range of multi-colored straps and dials.

  • Westar Activ watches are sporty men’s models.

  • Westar Profile, for men & women, is a collection consists of dress watches with stainless steel case and band doubled up with similar models in leather straps.

  • Westar Ornate, a collection inspired by jewellery designs made for women.

  • Westar Executive caters to the mid & lower income segment, the collection features gold-plated watches with folded bands for ladies and gents. This collection is aimed towards the expat communities in the UAE.

  • Westar Automatic collection features the Y676 movement manufactured by Seiko Instruments, along with automatic winding, 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), quick day and date. The construction is all stainless steel with a see-through case back, 21 Jewels and 10ATM water resistance in both steel and leather straps.

  • Westar Digital is a collection with versatile colors with water resistance up to 100 meters, an alarm, and World Time function.

  • Westar Kids are watches made for kids, the collection showcases colorful digital and analog watches.

  • Westar Ceramic features watches with ceramic band and bezel for men and women, some embellished with crystals and mother of pearl dials.
