Umesh Dutt is an Indian student leader, activist born 27 June 1977 at Palampur, is Ex. National general Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and his centre at New Delhi [1] Born in a family of Defense personnel, Shri Umesh Dutt hails from Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, a place that boasts of being the birthplace of Martyrs PV Maj Somnath Sharma, PV Capt Vikram Batra, AC Capt Amol Kalia and many more. Umesh Dutt is the Chairperson of Partners for Awareness and Community Empowerment (PACE). From 2010-2014 he worked as the National General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the World’s largest student organization. As an active youth leader, he has visited more than 100 state & central Universities and institutes of national importance as well as hundreds of colleges from far-flung regions of Ladakh in J&K and Silchar in North East India. He has also been a leading figure in the effort towards National Integration and has also led the study group of ABVP visiting Assam during recent Assam Violence. In addition to this, he has shared the dais with leading personalities from the Tibetan Freedom struggle and led an All-India level study into commercialization of education. Being a voluntary regular blood donor since 1995, he has also led awareness campaigns on Blood Donation. This subsequently culminated in a record-setting donation of blood in one single day by the ABVP Himachal on 12 November 1998. He was also a part of the team leading the ABVP’s campaign against alcoholism in the district of Una (HP) after the tragic death of 85 villagers due to toxic–country-made-liquor in 1997. He has raised environmental issues as well as led the ABVP’s study team on Power Projects in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur district. He is a regular commentator on National and Regional News Channels, and a regular invitee to television debates. He has consistently propounded the principles of a nationalistic student movement and inspired students to contribute towards the country and society at large.
