Early life

Trevor Michael Moran was born in Poway, California in 1998[3] to Nicole and Tim Moran. He has one brother named Blake.[4] Trevor first joined YouTube in 2008 at age 10, where he began uploading videos of himself dancing to popular songs at the Apple Store ('Apple Store Dances').[5] In August 2012, Trevor joined a collab channel on YouTube known as O2L (Our2ndLife) with members Connor Franta, Justin 'Jc' Caylen, Kian Lawley, Ricky Dillon, and Sam Pottorff, which hit 3 million subscribers after disbanding in December 2014.[6]

Career

In 2012, Moran first garnered attention when auditioning for The X Factor with the LMFAO song "Sexy and I Know It" (2011) at age thirteen. Moran received four votes from the judges, but was later eliminated during the "Boot Camp" stage.[7] He was then chosen to be part of the live auditions held in San Francisco.[8] In early September 2013, Moran released his debut major-label single entitled "Someone".[9] In early December 2013, Moran released another single, entitled "The Dark Side" with much success and entered the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart at #25.[10][11] In June 2014, Moran released a single titled "Echo"[12] and later another 3 singles titled "XIAT" (pronounced "anxiety"), "Now or Never," and "Slay"[13] from his EP titled XIAT. On December 9, Moran released his debut EP XIAT charting at number 1 on US Heat.[14] In June 2015, Moran released his single "I Wanna Fly."

On November 23, 2015, Moran released a music video for "Let's Roll," where he features his friend and fellow YouTube personality, Lia Marie Johnson.

On December 28, 2015, Ricky Dillon released "Steal the Show" on his album GOLD where Moran was featured with the former Our2ndLife member.

On January 22, 2016, Moran released his second EP Alive with 3 singles titled "Alive," "Got Me Feelin' Like," and "Cold Soul." In February 2016, Moran went on the Alive + GOLD tour alongside Ricky Dillon.

In September 2016, he released a single titled "Get Me Through the Night."

In December 2017, he released a single titled "Sinner."

Personal life

On October 9, 2015, Moran publicly came out as gay in a YouTube video.[15] In December 2017, he announced that, during the year, he underwent what he called an "identity crisis" and questioned whether he may be transgender before concluding that he wasn't.[16]
