Spitz International

Spitz International

Spitz International is a Canadian food company based in southern Alberta, located in Bow Island, Alberta with a distribution centre in Medicine Hat, and a pumpkin seed processing plant in China. It was founded in 1982 by Tom and Emmy Droog as Alberta Sunflower Seeds Ltd, who moved to Canada from Holland in 1972. The two began growing sunflowers in 1982 due to the unreglated nature of the marketplace. The company roasts and packages for sale both sunflower and pumpkin seeds, grown at farms in Alberta and Manitoba. The company was acquired by PepsiCo in 2008. Its headquarters is adorned with the world's largest sunflower statue.
