History
Their original name was the Watts Varrio Grape (WVG) which was a mixture of African Americans and Mexican Americans. However, in the 1970s, the Latino members eventually joined the Mexican Mafia and the Sureños. This led to them forming the Southside Watts Varrio Grape and adopted the number "13" to show their allegiance to the Mexican Mafia while the African American members formed the Grape Street Crips. However, the two gangs maintained a strong alliance with each other throughout the ages.
Rivalry with the Fudge Town Mafia Crips
The South Side Watts Varrio Grape 13 and the Fudge Town Mafia Crips became bitter rivals, which caused a lot of bloodshed between the two.
On June, 4th, 2012 an innocent father was shot while holding his one-year-old son (Angel Mauro Cortez Nava), who died from a single gunshot to the stomach.
Donal Ray Dokins, a 15 years old Fudge Town Mafia Crip member was charged as an adult and received 90 years in prison.
