Omar Pineiro (born May 15, 1997), known professionally as Smokepurpp, is an American rapper from Miami, Florida. Pineiro released his first music video "It’s Nothin" with Lil Ominous on September 23, 2014. Pineiro initially found success on the audio distribution platform SoundCloud in 2016 after his song "Ski Mask" and "Audi" went viral. Originally a producer, Pineiro is one of the most known figures of the "SoundCloud rap" movement due to his influence on artists such as Lil Pump who have since entered the mainstream music market.

Pineiro was born on May 15, 1997 in Chicago, Illinois. He and his family moved to Miami, Florida when he was three years old. Speaking on his upbringing, Pineiro described himself during high school as a calm individual who surrounded himself with diverse groups of people.
Pineiro began his music career as a producer, a hobby he picked up due to boredom.
While doing this, he had a major influence in getting his friend Lil Pump into rapping as well. He began to rap when no one bought his produced instrumentals and due to the success of several tracks on the audio distribution platform SoundCloud, Pineiro dropped out of high school in his senior year.
Pineiro originally started to pursue music in high school, starting as a producer.
Pineiro began to rap due to the lack of people actually buying his produced instrumentals.
Pineiro's first song was released on SoundCloud in 2015 but Pineiro quickly deleted it due to its lack of quality, soon uploading his second song, "Live Off A Lick" featuring Florida native rapper XXXTentacion. Pineiro eventually dropped out of high school due to his budding music career.
In March 2017, Pineiro signed to Interscope Records and Alamo Records. Following this, he announced his debut mixtape on March 9, 2017 on the social media platform Twitter. Several days later on March 14, 2017, Pineiro announced that his debut commercial mixtape would be titled Deadstar.
Pineiro released the single, "Audi" in May 2017.
The single soon became his biggest song with over 25 million plays on SoundCloud and 33 million streams on Spotify as of October 2017.
In September 2017, Pineiro announced that the release date for Deadstar was September 22, releasing the single "Bless Yo Trap" following the announcement. Pineiro announced later on that Deadstar would be delayed, stating no expected release date.
On November 8, 2017, Pineiro was on the MTV show TRL , where he announced that he has a collaboration mixtape coming soon with Murda Beatz titled Bless Yo Trap . He later released 2 singles from the mixtape called 123 and Do Not Disturb, the latter which featured Lil Yachty and Offset from the Migos. The mixtape was released on April 13, 2018.
On March 20, 2018, while Pineiro was at SXSW, he did an interview with Nardwuar the Human Serviette, and in that interview, Nardwuar exposed that he has a project coming in 2018 called Sound of Space, along with his Deadstar 2 project.

Omar Jeffery Pineiro*** (born May 15th, 1997), known professionally by his stage name Smokepurpp, is an American rapper and producer from Miami, Florida. Smokepurpp became prominent in 2016, after several songs he uploaded to SoundCloud received millions of plays. Some of Smokepurpp's notable tracks include "Sam$ung Jumpin", "Ski Mask", "Work Hard", "Six Rings", and "No Smoke". He is signed to Todd Moscowitz's Alamo Records, a label under Interscope and Travis Scott's imprint Cactus Jack Records.
Pineiro released his debut commercial mixtape Deadstar on September 28, 2017, and the mixtape peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Piñero was born in 1997 in Chicago, Illinois. His mother is of Hispanic descent, while his father is of mixed ethnicity. Piñero's family relocated to Dade County when he was only 3 or 4 years old. He has stated in an interview with Hotnewhiphop that the area that he grew up in was "not the nicest area", and that there was a lot of criminal activity around where he grew up. Smokepurpp took an interest in drugs at a young age. He began smoking marijuana in the 8th grade, and began using xanax at the age of 16, and even dabbled in selling xanax. Piñero attended North Gardens High School. He dropped out during his senior year of high school. He is best friends with rapper Lil Pump.
Piñero began his career in music as a producer, working with popular DAW FL Studio. Piñero learned how to use the program after watching tutorial videos on YouTube. He was attracted to being a producer because he did not like the attention that comes with being a rapper, and preferred to stay behind the scenes. Piñero has stated in multiple interviews that he was not able to find success as a producer because his beats were not very good, and that no one wanted to rap over them. After failing to find success in production, Smokepurpp decided to start rapping, initially rapping over his own instrumentals. His first song to reach major success was "Sam$ung Jumpin".
In March 2017, Pineiro signed a record deal with Todd Moscowitz’s new label Alamo Records under Universal Music Group. He also received a diamond chain worth $50,000 as a bonus gift.
On September 6, 2017, Smokepurpp released the single, "Bless yo Trap", produced by Ice Bream.
