The Plymouth Police Department has a full time police officer at the school. There was a report of an arson on school property in 2020. The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gary Maestas, released a statement shortly thereafter:
Our youth is exposed to a variety of influences in society.
In Plymouth today, one of our high school students chose to mimic a prank demonstrated on a social media platform known as Tik-Tok.
I am happy to report that there were no injuries or significant damage to Plymouth North High School as a result of their irresponsible act of shorting out an electrical outlet.
This act has ignited fires in other schools in Massachusetts and other states causing disruption of the school day and significant damages to schools.
We are working with the Plymouth Police and Fire Departments to fully understand the scope of this issue and pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law.
