Pakistan Workers' Federation
The Pakistan Workers' Federation (PWF) is an umbrella organization of national trade unions in Pakistan.[1]
These trade unions individually were determined to work together to promote and protect their rights by creating “Pakistan Workers Federation” initially through merger of three national trade union centers of Pakistan in 1994, namely: All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions (APFTU), All Pakistan Federation of Labour (APFOL) and Pakistan National Federation of Trade Unions (PNFTU). Later the actual merger did take place in 2004. Although all three merging unions remain affiliated individually with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) based in Paris, France. As of 2011, the merged Pakistan Workers' Federation represents approximately 60% of the organized workforce of Pakistan.[1]
