Navaneeth Unnikrishnan is an Indian Amateur Astronomer and Astrophotographer [11] from Kerala. He started photography as a hobby using a basic Canon DSLR and later specialized in imaging Deep Sky Objects. His images are published in Magazines and websites including National Geographic, BBC Earth, Space.com [2] and also the winner of photography competition conducted by National Geographic Traveller India and National Students Space Challenge 2014, 2015 hosted by IIT Kharagpur.

Early life

Navaneeth was born to Unnikrishnan K.K and Geetha in Thalassery on 14 March 1992. As a child he was brought up in Muscat, Oman, later moved to Vatakara, Kerala. He was interested in astronomy from a young age. He started photography with a very basic Canon camera and turned it into his passion. Navaneeth did his schooling in Vatakara and moved to Karnataka for higher studies.

Career

Navaneeth started photography as a hobby using a basic camera his dad bought him.

He wasn't into Astrophotography until he witnessed the Milky Way with his eyes from his backyard and happened to capture it on camera using long exposure time. He then began shooting deep sky objects using telescopes and has numerous images published on international Magazines including National Geographic ,Digital Camera Magazine,and websites including BBC Earth, [3] Space.com, [5] Earth & Sky. [6] [7] [9] [10] He is also featured by Snapdeal in India's Finest Photographers. [1] [4] Navaneeth is self-taught and has learned photography through experimenting and independent study.
