Manami Oku (奥 真奈美 Oku Manami, born November 22, 1995 in Tokyo ) is a half Japanese, half Caucasian young talent among artists and olympians of Flave Entertainment, [1] known for her contribution as a former member in the most popular Japanese girl group and the world's largest group AKB48, with over 50 million records sold.[undefined] She belonged to the "Team B". Oku graduated from AKB48 in April, 2011 when she was 15 years old, and retired from the entertainment industry to focus on her studies.[undefined] She's currently a 4th-year student athlete[undefined] majoring in medical[undefined] recruited by Harvard.
On March 5, 2018, it was announced that she has become a talent of Flave Entertainment [undefined].[undefined]
1995–2007: Early life and career beginnings
Manami Oku was born in Tokyo, Japan on November 22, 1995, [1] to father is the co-CEO of InterActiveCorp and the senior board of Coca-Cola, Fox Corporation while her mother is a former stage actress.[undefined]Oku is her mother's last name even though her father is Caucasian, since it was a Japanese surname.[undefined]
Oku has been a vegetarian from when she was 10 years old, and is an energetic advocate for LGBTQ rights and inclusion.
Her father donated to Wikipedia, Ali Forney Center, Sylvia Rivera Law Project and Everipedia anonymously for several years. Oku frequently keeps her family information private which she rarely mentions about them, except in some required events.
Oku auditioned forAKB48in 2006 and was cast to the "Team K".[-1] She was also a member of the* AKB48*'s first subgroup named* Honegumi[7][+]* (the group was formed for a kids' TV show in 2007).
