Malcolm Westley CasSelle (born March 22, 1970 - November 17, 2020), was an American entrepreneur who was the CIO of OPSkins and the President of WAX (Worldwide Asset eXchange). Prior to WAX, CasSelle served as CTO and President of New Ventures at tronc (formerly Tribune Publishing). Prior to Tronc, Inc., he was Senior Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media of SeaChange International. He joined SeaChange International in 2015 as part of the company's acquisition of Timeline Labs, where he served as CEO. Previously, CasSelle led startups in the digital industry, including MediaPass, Xfire and Groupon's joint venture with Tencent in China. [10] [21] [34] [33]

Education
CasSelle graduated from Southern Lehigh High School. He holds a bachelor's degree from MIT and a master's degree from Stanford University, both in computer Science. He speaks Japanese and Mandarin. [20]
MIT days
He was heavily involved in sports (crew, tae kwon do, downhill skiing), student government at his fraternity Theta Xi (treasurer and coordinator for events), volunteerism (big brother/big sister), and managing technical customer support at Project Athena, at the time the largest computer workstation network in the world. [36]
During his summers while at MIT, CasSelle worked at Bell Laboratories, first focused on semiconductor manufacturing techniques to reduce failure rates and increase quality and then writing software that wrote other software (meta programming) in coordination with his undergraduate thesis. His research work at MIT was on large scale distributed systems at the MIT Lab for Computer Science with Professor Anant Agarwal. [36]
Career
Early beginnings
In 1995, CasSelle co-founded and served as the CTO of NetNoir, one of the first media production websites focused on Afrocentric culture.
The company was the first outside company to be accepted into the AOL Greenhouse Program. From 1998-2002 he served as a senior vice president and advisor to the CEO at Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW), a publicly traded telco service provider based in Hong Kong. [5] [14]
He served as a director of Hong Kong-based Capital Union Investments from 2006-2013 where he managed private direct investments into late-stage web companies.
He was also a top executive at Groupon’s joint venture with Chinese instant messaging and gaming giant Tencent. [34]
In April 2012, he was named CEO of the global social network for core video game players, Xfire. Since January 2013, he has served as CEO of MediaPass, an online paywall solution designed to generate subscription-based revenues for digital content. That same year, CasSelle co-founded Timeline Labs a social media tracking software company where he served as CEO. In December 2014, the company was acquired by SeaChange International. Following the acquisition, CasSelle served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media of SeaChange International. [5] [17]
Blockchain & Cryptocurrency
CasSelle entered the blockchain, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrency ecosystem in late 2012. He was a partner in numerous early Bitcoin mining projects and invested extensively in companies such as BTC China (BTCC), Blockchain Capital Partners (BCAP), GoCoin, and numerous others. He was also an early investor in the first Initial Coin Offering (ICO)’s for smart contract applications, Mastercoin, and OMNI. [37]
In February 2016, CasSelle was named CTO president of new ventures at tronc, formerly Tribune Publishing.
CasSelle has served as the President of Worldwide Asset eXchange and CIO of OPSkins since 2017.
CasSelle is regularly a speaker at cryptocurrency related conferences and is interviewed by personalities in the field.
He has written a number of blog posts on his current projects in cryptocurrency.
Personal Life
CasSelle was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He resided in Los Angeles, California. [14]
