Joseph Michael Yorio (born August 24, 1964) is an American business executive and former United States Army 75th Ranger Regiment and Special Forces officer (Green Berets).

Military career
Joseph M. Yorio was the President and CEO for Xe Services/Blackwater Worldwide, now known as Academi. Prior to entering the civilian sector, Yorio served in the U.S. Army, serving as an enlisted man and later as an officer, notably with the 10th Mountain Division, 75th Ranger Regiment and the 7th, 11th and 19th Special Forces Groups from 1981-1992 and 2005-2008. He was retired from the Army as a Captain (promoted to Major when recalled to service)
Background
A Jeannette, Pennsylvania native, Yorio attended Jeannette Senior High School after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After leaving active duty, he joined the US Army Reserve's 11th Special Forces Group while attending Saint Vincent College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. While attending college he also enrolled in the Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s ROTC program where he received a Regular Army commission. He has a Master of Science from Cornell University and an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Blackwater/Xe Services
Yorio is the former President and CEO of Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide.
Yorio is mentioned several times in Erik Prince’s new book “Civilian Warriors.”
Prince credited Yorio with restructuring the company and turning it around while resolving several legal issues and taking the company to a liquidity event.
NYX Global
Yorio served as President & CEO of NYX Global LLC from 2011-2014 a business optimization and management consulting company that supported commercial and government partners with a global market focus on aerospace/defense, executive protection & security and logistics, distribution & supply chain management.
School Specialty
On April 23, 2014, it was announced that Joseph M. Yorio had been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of School Specialty a distributor of innovative and proprietary products, programs and services to the education marketplace.
Yorio replaced Jim Henderson, who was named Interim President and CEO by the Board of Directors in July 2013.
Henderson will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Yorio has also joined the Board of Directors.
