He spent six years as a jobbing actor in Edinburgh, working part-time in bars to pay the bills, before landing parts in TV shows, including Legit, Rab C. Nesbitt and Bob Servant Independent, and Gregory Burke's award-winning play Black Watch. However he soon found success by playing the regular role of Alex McAllister in soap opera *River City *. He most recently graced the big screen as Alex Setterington in *Filth * alongside James McAvoy- the famous older brother of his River City co-star Joy.

As well as television, Young has played in numerous pantomimes, many of which were with fellow comedians and actors Alan McHugh and Elaine C. Smith.

Personal life

Young is the son of Peter and Shirley Young.

His father tragically lost his life in a car accident when Jordan was just 14.

He stated the loss of his father caused him to become ″completely and utterly rudderless.″ His thick Fife dialect makes him a recognizable voice on television.

His wife Karen is a choreographer and they have a daughter called Marley.
