John Shields (born ca. 1944 [2]) was the mayor of Nyack, New York from 2000-2010. In 2004, he was among the mayors who announced they would recognize the same-sex marriages performed in New Paltz, New York. [3] On January 13, 2009, he announced he would not run for re-election after serving four terms and would also leave the Democratic Party. [2]
Personal life
Mayor John Shields became engaged to Richard Worthington in 2012.
They, along with their dog, Garth, spend time in NY and LA.
