Isaac Dabah

Isaac Dabah (born 1957 [1]) is the CEO of Delta Galil Industries Ltd., a leading global apparel company with over $1 billion of annual sales.

Delta, established in 1975, is an innovation-driven company specializing in design, manufacturing and marketing of intimate apparel and activewear. Its products are sold in over 40 countries. Delta has a diversified business platform serving the Upper Tier (such as Calvin Klein, Lacoste and Victoria’s Secret), the Mid Tier (such as JC Penney, Kohl’s and Macy’s) and the Mass Market (such as Walmart, Costco, Primark and Target). The company's unique philosophy of Body Before Fabric™ focuses on the body’s interaction with different fabrics and emphasizes innovation for performance, comfort and style, bringing high-tech capabilities to customers.

Early life

Dabah’s parents fled to Jerusalem from Syria in 1948. He was born in Jerusalem and lived in Israel until the age of 11. Dabah’s father was a tax professional in Jerusalem until 1969 when they moved to Brooklyn, New York. After their move to New York, Dabah’s father established an importing business, and Isaac joined his father and brothers in the business when he was in his 20s. [2]

Early career

Dabah bought the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans brand in 1993 for $5 million, [1] as his first major business move. He revitalized the company and sold it in 2002 to Jones Apparel Group for $150 million. [3] He continued as the CEO of Gloria Vanderbilt Apparel until 2003 when Jones Apparel Group combined their denim operations into one division and appointed Dabah as the CEO of the new and expanded group called the Jones Apparel Group Denim Division. [2] In 2005, Dabah formed GMM Capital LLC, which is a privately owned hedge fund sponsor that invests in various parts of the public equity markets of Israel and the United States including textile, apparel and real estate segments. [3]

Delta Galil Industries

In 2005, Dabah bought a 23% stake in Delta Galil Industries from Sara Lee via his company, GMM Capital.

[4] He became a Director of Delta Galil on November 15, 2005.

[5] By 2007, Dov Lautman, the founder of the company, started looking for a buyer for his interest in the company, and he approached Dabah.

Dabah then bought another 13.3% and took control of the business.

[2] He officially became their Chief Executive Officer on August 20, 2008.

[5]

Under Dabah’s leadership, Delta Galil has significantly enhanced its global presence, grown its branded business, formed relationships with major customers and partners, made accretive acquisitions, and delivered strong financial performance.

In 2012, the company acquired Schiesser AG, the leading underwear manufacturer and marketer in Germany. The US and European markets now account for 59% and 28%, respectively, of the company’s sales, and Israel accounts for 11%. [6] Key customer and partner relationships include Calvin Klein, Spanx, Victoria’s Secret, Under Armour, Lacoste, Columbia Sportswear and Marc O’Polo. Delta Galil also has partnered with Nike, for whom it operates an advanced technical center in Beaverton, Oregon.

Philanthropy

Mr. Dabah, following the precedent of the company’s founder Dov Lautman, takes an interest in pursuing peaceful coexistence through commerce.

In 1985, following the Middle East peace accord, Delta Galil became the first Israeli company to establish and own commercial facilities in Jordan and Egypt. [7]

The company supports community organizations that promote tolerance and respect, youth education and enrichment, and equal opportunity for diverse populations.

In 2014, Delta Galil, company owners and the Lautman Foundation committed $1 million shekels (approx.

US$300,000) to the Shenkar College of Engineering and Textile Design in Israel, to invest in future generations of textile designers.

[8]

On October 28, 2015 Dabah held a fundraiser in his home for the development of a Center for Innovation at The Peres Center for Peace in Israel. [9]

  • In 2014, Dabah received the “Femmy” Award from the Underfashion Club of New York. [12]

Dabah is married to Ivette (Khafif) [9] and has three children, Gloria, Mariel and Morris.
