Chito Cano
Chito Cano

Rodrigo Ángel "Chito" Cano Rodríguez was a Mexican gun runner who is idealized as the subject of several Mexican corridos, [1] including Ramon Ayala's "El Corrido De Chito Cano." [1] This corrido recounts Cano's life and numerous encounters with death. [1] He is described as a valiant man who was betrayed and shot in the back in 1971. [1] Upon falling, he laughed and yelled for the cowards to finish him off rather than running away. [1] The incident left him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. [2] Cano died in 2010, at the age of 74, from complications related to pneumonia. [3]
Los Cadetes de Linares also dedicated a corrido to Chito Cano titled "El Retorno De Chito Cano". Chito's brother Servando is the head of Serca Music.
