CapTech Consulting, Inc. is a national IT management consulting firm, specialising in digital solutions, systems integration, management consulting, data and analytics and customer experience.
CapTech was formed as the result of a friendship between the company's founders, Sandy Williamson and Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, that began while both were employed at Andersen Consulting in Washington, D.C.
Eventually, each would leave the company to pursue additional opportunities, but they stayed in touch.
In March 1997, the two found themselves back in their shared hometown—Richmond, Virginia—and this close proximity led to the creation of CapTech Ventures, Inc.
In both 2002 and 2003, CapTech earned a spot on the Inc. Magazine’s list of the nation's 500 fastest-growing private companies.
The Inc. 5000 list ranked CapTech for 9 years.
In 2007, the Inc. 500 list expanded to the Inc. 500|5000, giving readers a deeper, richer understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape and capturing a broader spectrum of success.
[2] In 2004, CapTech received the Impact Award of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce for its achievements in growth, economic impact and support of the community.
Over the years, CapTech has been recognised by Ernst and Young, Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Greater Richmond Partnership, United Way, RichTech and numerous additional organisations for its steady growth and positive impact on the communities it serves.
Consulting Magazine has ranked CapTech in Best Firms to Work For after 2012.
In 2016, CapTech received the #5 position overall for Best Firms to Work For, #2 for Information Technology and #4 for Meeting Clients Needs.
[3] CapTech has continued to rank for excelling in the Work/Life Balance category, which reflects how well consultants perceive their firm as enabling them to balance their life outside of their day job.
The list is based on an online survey that's completed by over 350 firms, and 13,000 consultants.
In 2016, Vault magazine [4] recognised CapTech for having one of the best consulting internships in the country, Elevate.
[5] This unique 12-week programme simulates a client engagement where one can achieve a full understanding of the consulting experience while solving relevant client problems.
Interns work in self-led teams and are paired with senior consultants for evaluation and mentorship.
Additionally, interns enjoy weekly lunch-and-learns with leadership.
CapTech interns are given the opportunity to build something that matters and create impactful value.
*Forbes.com * additionally ranked the Elevate Internship #4 for Best Internships in 2016 [6] .
CapTech's work in digital solutions for government and state agencies has been recognised in Virginia and nationally.
