BOX8 is an on-demand food delivery startup that offers Indian food on its menu.

History

It started as a Mexican-only service called Poncho Hospitality in 2011.

In 2012, the company re-branded to BOX8 and refreshed it's menu to offer Indian food.

Operations

BOX8[6] is a full-stack service that handles everything from the procurement of raw materials and the preparation of the food to delivery.

It is currently operational in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru and offers meals, desi boxes, wraps, biryanis, starters, beverages and desserts.

Funding

BOX8 raised seed funding through Mu Sigma founder Dhiraj Rajaram, Kaushal Aggarwal, co-founder and managing director of Avendus Capital and Indian Angel Network.

Series A of 3.5 million USD led by Mayfield Indian in May 2015, followed the seed round.[666666]

In October 2016, Box8 raised $7.5 million (around Rs 50 crore) in its Series B round from IIFL Seed Ventures and Mayfield.

The company also raised $15 million from IIFL Seed Ventures Fund, Ewtp Ecosystem Fund, Mayfield Ventures, Indian Angel Network, and from others in the same month.

BOX8 had raised $6.2 million in Series C funding round from ReDefine Capital, in March 2019.

Box8 has raised 3.9 Mn USD in its ongoing Series C funding round from existing investors US-based venture capital firm IIFL Seed Ventures Fund and Mayfield.

The round was a mix of debt and equity funding.

Other investors in the company include Indian Angel Network, Ganesh Ventures Fund, and venture debt provider Trifecta Capital.[666666]
