History
1946
Bharat Bijlee was established in 1946 a small investment.
The impetus was to substitute the import of electric motors with indigenous manufacture.
1947-1954 Pioneers the production of electric motors in India and started manufacturing power transformers
1958 Technical collaboration and distribution agreements with Siemens AG for motors and transformers
1965 Bharat Bijlee set up its new, sophisticated manufacturing plant at Airoli (Navi Mumbai) in about 193,000 sq. m of land to produce transformers and motors
1973 Diversification into the manufacture and installation of Olympus elevators
1982 Bharat Bijlee manufactured first 220 KV transformer
1985 Inherent synergies and the growing engineering skills in power equipment manufacture, led to the formation of an independent Projects Division to design, install and commission High Tension electrical switchyards and distribution systems on turn-key basis
2003 Extension of Transformer manufacturing range up to 200 MVA, 220 kV
2004 Elevator field operations business was divested to a subsidiary of Kone Elevators (India) Pvt.
Ltd
2006 Facility for Transformers is commissioned tripling manufacturing capacity and increasing the range

Transformers
Bharat Bijlee has a state-of-the-art plant with a production capacity of 15,000 MVA and a full-fledged testing laboratory that was NABL accredited in 2014.
It offers up to 200MVA, 200kV, 3 phase transformers and caters to State Electricity Boards, Utilities, PSUs, Industries and overseas customers.

Motors
Bharat Bijlee started manufacturing Motors in 1958 in technical collaboration with Siemens.
It offers a complete range of motors from 0.12 kW to 1250 kW that are used across industries and applications.
It also as a full range of hazardous area motors in conformance with IS:5572:2009.
Besides the standard range, Bharat Bijlee manufactures customised motors for special applications.
It serves customers across India through a wide dealer and service network.

Bharat Bijlee has partnered with KEB of Germany for the distribution of their Variable Frequency Drives.
KEB’s AC Variable Drives up to 900 kW are also manufactured at its plant.
In addition, the company provides DC Drives, Servo system solutions, and an entire gamut of automation solutions for enhanced precision, productivity and efficiency.
Servo systems serve various applications in metals, textiles, packaging, plastics, wind energy and machine tools.
Elevator Systems
Bharat Bijlee started the manufacture and installation of the well known Olympus brand of elevators in 1973.
In 2004 this business was divested to a subsidiary of Kone Elevators.
Building on its experience in motors and automation, it re-entered the elevator business in 2008.
It is the first Indian manufacturer of gearless Permanent Magnet Synchronous motors for elevators.
This technology for the first time enabled elevators without a machine room.
They save up to 30% energy and are relatively maintenance free.
Bharat Bijlee exports its machines across the world via PERMAGSA of Spain.
It is the OEM supplier to elevator companies in India and Europe.
